Individual Therapy
Our Approach
Our therapists draw from evidence-based approaches, including developmental, attachment-focused, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming frameworks.
While each therapist has their own areas of specialization, we share a commitment to understanding the whole person rather than focusing only on symptoms or diagnoses. We work collaboratively with clients and families to identify goals, build on existing strengths, and develop supports that fit their unique circumstances.
Areas of Focus
Our therapists work with a variety of concerns, including:
- Anxiety and depression
- Trauma and stress-related challenges
- Autism spectrum disorder
- ADHD and executive functioning
- Social relationships
- School-related challenges
- Family conflict
- Identity development
Getting Started
The first step is to submit an interest form and schedule a brief phone consultation (typically 10–15 minutes). This conversation gives us an opportunity to learn more about what you are looking for, answer questions, discuss scheduling and availability, and review insurance or payment options.
Following the consultation, we will help match you with a therapist whose experience and approach align with your needs. If we do not have immediate availability, we may offer placement on a waiting list and provide our best estimate of anticipated wait times.
Assessment Process
After scheduling, you will receive intake paperwork to complete before your first appointment.
The intake process is designed to help us develop a thorough understanding of each client's strengths, challenges, relationships, developmental history, and goals. Depending on the client's age and needs, this process may include interviews with parents and caregivers, individual meetings with the client, structured observations, play-based assessment, and other assessment tools selected to address specific concerns.
For children, the first several sessions often focus on building rapport, observing play and interaction patterns, gathering information from caregivers, and identifying areas of strength and growth. We view assessment as an ongoing process that helps us better understand how a child experiences and engages with the world.
Following the assessment period, the therapist will develop an intake summary and initial treatment plan. This information will be reviewed collaboratively with clients and families to ensure that goals and recommendations reflect their priorities, concerns, and hopes for therapy.
What Therapy Looks Like
Therapy is tailored to the needs of each individual.
For some clients, sessions may focus on conversation, reflection, problem-solving, and skill development. For others, particularly children, therapy may include play, art, movement, sensory experiences, games, or other activities that support communication, emotional processing, relationship-building, and learning.
Our therapists adapt their approach to fit each client's developmental level, communication style, interests, strengths, and goals.
